FURNITURE DESIGN CASE STUDY

Some clients want entire collections of bespoke handmade furniture or sometimes it’s just one piece to compliment an existing interior. It’s about creating something unique to them and their property. From creating initial watercolour sketches to selecting all veneers and detailed finishes, I oversee and direct the entire production process.

THE BRIEF

This property has fabulous views of the harbour. The brief was to create both an intimate indoor sitting area and to be able to sit down and enjoy the view.

THE SOLUTION

The answer was to design and create a unique bespoke pair of handmade swivel chairs.

THE PROCESS

For each, we fabricated a solid bronze base with an integral bearing ring to support the seat. The seat itself is made from beech and upholstered. The sweeping shape of the base and arms of the chair echo other furniture in the collection and echoes the sweep of the Opera House visible in the distance.
